Job Description


The Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is seeking a highly motivated Engineer to join its Security Engineering team at the Nuclear Power Training Unit (NPTU) Charleston site. The newest team member will be responsible for the development and implementation of physical security systems (e.g., access control, biometrics, video, barrier devices) at NPTU Charleston. In addition, the candidate will perform the following responsibilities for NPTU Charleston physical security systems: perform engineering reviews for construction projects to ensure alignment with applicable security requirements, provide Work Control Officer (WCO) support, provide oversight for preventative/corrective maintenance activities, and manage the budget.







Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill


Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 9 years of relevant experience; or
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 7 years of relevant experience; or
Currently or previously Shift Supervisor Part II qualified; or qualified SIT and 3 years EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or
Currently or previously CRE qualified; or 6 years as SRE; or SRE qualified and 9 years of experience.



Preferred Skills


Prior experience developing and implementing physical security systems.
Knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering is preferred.
Prior experience directly interfacing with Navy personnel.
Prior experience reviewing applicable DOE and DOD requirements and developing compliance implementation plans.

Pay Range


$103,100.00 - $161,100.00 annually
Salary information provided is a general guide line only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations


The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston.
