organs and tissues to assist doctors with diagnosing and monitoring
a variety of conditions and diseases. A sonographer is also known
as a diagnostic medical sonographer or an ultrasound

Summary/Purpose: -The Cardiac Sonographer I report to the Cardiac
Sonographer Supervisor. - -Under general supervision, the Cardiac
Sonographer I perform high quality echocardiograms for
interpretation and diagnosis by a Cardiologist in a professional
manner that is consistent with hospital and departmental policies
and procedures. This role applies knowledge of clinical cardiology,
acoustic imaging technology, and problem-solving skills to optimize
the echocardiographic evaluation, tailoring and expanding the exam
to ensure comprehensiveness and diagnostic accuracy and requires
independent and efficient performance of Echo exams. - -This role
organizes and prioritizes patient exams and contributes to unit
teamwork. - -This role assists in the orientation and training of
residents, students, and visitors assigned to the Echocardiography
Laboratory. - -The Cardiac Sonographer II reports to the Cardiac
Sonographer Supervisor. Under general supervision, the Cardiac
Sonographer II performs high quality echocardiograms for

Laboratory.Minimum Training and Education: -Graduation from a
Cardiovascular / Ultrasound program or equivalent experience, and
registry eligible for certification by the American Registry of
Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a Registered Diagnostic
Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS)
certification by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International
(CCI) preferred. Associate of Arts/Science or bachelor's degree /
graduation from a Cardiovascular / Ultrasound program or equivalent
experience is preferred. - New graduates of a cardiac ultrasound
program must obtain appropriate credential within one year from the
date of graduation per IAC standards. Registry-eligible Cardiac
Sonographer I is listed as provisional technical staff and required
to work under appropriate supervision of a credentialed
sonographer. One year of training/experience in performing cardiac
ultrasound procedures including 2D, M-Mode and Doppler preferred. -
Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and hemodynamics
desired. Graduation from an accredited Cardiovascular / Ultrasound
program or equivalent experience and certification by the American
Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a RDCS, or
Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) certification by the
Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) required.
Associate of Arts/Science or bachelor's degree / graduation from a
Cardiovascular / Ultrasound program or equivalent experience is
preferred. A minimum of two years of echo work experience in
performing M-mode, 2-D, 3-D, spectral and color Doppler required.
Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, hemodynamics, and
adult congenital echo required. Required Licensure, Certifications,
Registrations: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required; either a
certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for
Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American
Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare
Provider.Additional Job DescriptionEducation: Graduation from a
school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Work Experience: 2-4
years. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support
(BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare
