Job Description SummaryMUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is an
entity within the Medical University of South Carolina that
provides healthcare to patients within the rural health network
throughout the state of South Carolina.
Supports high quality Point of Care Testing (POCT) testing at the
point of service. Point of Care Testing (POCT) SOP development and
regulatory compliance as well as performing training and competency
assessment of clinical services personnel. Performs quality
control, maintenance, troubleshooting, evaluations, and
correlations of POCT instrumentation. Reviews and evaluates POCT
data and patient results for acceptability; resolves aberrant data
and results; Effective communication skills; model Standards of
Behavior in daily interactions and activities; routinely rounds on
customers to ensure needs are met. Performs other duties as

routine and specialized diagnostic medical lab tests as requested
by healthcare staff according to established protocols and
procedures. Prepares specimens for microscopic examination or
testing procedures. Operates automated laboratory instrumentation
and equipment. Performs quality control and assurance procedures.
Records lab results in specified system. Follows all required
privacy, safety, and biohazard procedures and standards.Minimum
Education and Experience:An Associate's degree in Clinical
Laboratory TechnologyRequired Licensure, Certifications,
Registrations: Certification by the American Society of Clinical
Pathology (ASCP). If not certified, must be registry eligible and
enrolled to take certification exam during the first year of
