Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: Operating Room Job Duration: 12 weeks Shift: 4 - 10 hour shifts; schedule varies, 11:00 AM - 9:30 PM with two weekend shifts (24 hours) every 6 weeks Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week Experience: Minimum years of experience not specified License: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in a recognized compact state Certifications: American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card Must-Have: Ability to scrub and circulate; BSN highly desired; graduate of an accredited school or college of nursing Job Description: - Provide nursing care for patients following established standards and practices in accordance with nursing regulations. - Apply professional nursing theory and practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. - Perform patient assessments reflecting physical, psychological, socio-cultural, spiritual, cognitive needs, and functional abilities. - Communicate assessments effectively and plan care based on assessment. - Involve patients and families in planning care and evaluate progress and outcomes. - Demonstrate clinical competencies in specific areas of practice. - Assess patient and family learning needs, provide education, and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching. - Respond appropriately to ethical issues in patient care and serve as a resource for others. - Initiate collaborative dialogue with physicians and coordinate multidisciplinary activities to plan, deliver, and evaluate patient care. - Act as a patient advocate. - Provide non-judgmental nursing care that respects patient diversity and acknowledges patient rights. - Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and patient safety initiatives. - Maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff, and the public. - Analyze situations and apply critical thinking in emergency situations. Work Environment: - Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, and stooping. - Frequent lifting and moving of patients and objects up to 50 lbs. - Frequent use of finger and hand dexterity; constant reaching with hands and arms. - Frequent talking or hearing; corrected hearing and vision to normal range. - Exposure to blood, body fluids, and infectious materials. - Requires work under stressful conditions, irregular hours, and possibly weekends or holidays.
