Nuclear Medicine Technologists operate specialized imaging equipment and ensure patient safety during the administration of radioactive materials.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n

  • Prepare, administer, and monitor the safe use of radioactive materials (radiopharmaceuticals) for diagnostic imaging and therapeutic procedures.\n
  • Operate specialized imaging equipment, such as gamma cameras and PET/CT scanners, to capture diagnostic images of organs and tissues.\n
  • Prepare patients for nuclear medicine procedures by explaining the process, positioning, and ensuring their comfort.\n
  • Administer intravenous injections, oral radiopharmaceuticals, or inhalation of radioactive substances as required.\n
  • Analyze and interpret nuclear medicine images to identify normal and abnormal findings for physician review.\n
  • Collaborate with nuclear medicine physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement diagnostic imaging protocols and treatment plans.\n
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient procedures, imaging data, and radiopharmaceutical usage.\n
  • Ensure the safe handling, storage, and disposal of radioactive materials according to regulatory guidelines.\n
  • Monitor patient vital signs, such as heart rate and blood pressure, during procedures, ensuring patient safety throughout.\n
  • Stay current on advancements in nuclear medicine technology, imaging techniques, and safety protocols through continuing education.\n\n\nQualifications:\n

    • Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology.\n
    • Certification:\n
      • \n
      • Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) certification from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-N).\n
      • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.\n\n\n
